     Both creations of innovative technology and aggressive young researchers as a core member are essential for companies as the support and driving force of Japanese industry to maintain their power. Recently competition for excellent human resources, which are the basis of competitiveness, has become more worldwide and severer. That is why the companies in industry began to focus on securing human resources with multiple talents such as advanced specialization, research ability, wide knowledge, technology promotion ability, and so on.

     In order to develop the human resources mentioned above, it is vital that we induce young researchers to get not only a high degree of specialization but also a various experience to expand their field of view. They are expected to commit a research in a different field or an interdisciplinary filed beside their own research area, emerging from their graduate school to various research institutions in all over the world. We have to found an organization which provides such opportunities for researchers to cultivate a go-getter attitude.
     The principal point of the system is a development of professional human resources able to make a great contribution in the first line of a company or in a global research institution. As the target of the system, in addition, we concentrate on a group of "young researchers with willingness and capacities", selected from junior faculty, post doctors, graduate students, and working engineers.

     In April, 2008, Graduate School of Engineering of Osaka University established "Continuing Professional Development Center," aiming to create (1) a system operated by the university itself for cultivation of young researchers with distinguished research ability, and (2) a system based on university-industry cooperation for development of management ability of young researchers. These measures are based on the university's advanced human resources development policy of developing excellent human resources with eagerness and creativity.

     Osaka University has accumulated solid results through continuous expansion of outstandingly active university-industry projects with companies in the Kansai Region. Obtaining cooperation from the collaborative projects with an industrial research institution, we will improve research management ability pointed out as a weakness of post doctors and young teachers.
     Furthermore, we take a step to the new direction the previous training programs tended to neglect, planning to construct an objective and appropriate evaluation system of researchers' ability of making and executing a research proposition.
     As stated above, we will conduct operations which realize development of human resources with multiple talents such as advanced specialization, research ability, wide knowledge, and technology promotion ability.
